Topical System for Treatment of PDPN (Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy) in Allentown

You are not alone

  • 35 million people live with diabetes
  • 10 million people live with diabetic neuropathy
  • 5 million people live with diabetic nerve pain despite multiple treatments

What happens when diabetic nerve pain of the feet occurs?

Diabetic nerve pain of the feet, also known as painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy of the feet, occurs if nerves are damaged as a result of diabetes. Damaged nerves cannot correctly transmit signals from the skin to the brain, causing the signals to become exaggerated, and creating the chronic pain you may be feeling.

Although diabetic nerve pain can affect any nerve, it’s most commonly felt in the feet. Patients have described diabetic nerve pain of the feet as “shooting” or “stabbing”.

QUTENZA is the first and only treatment of its kind to deliver prescription-strength capsaicin directly to the skin. The journey of finding relief from diabetic nerve pain of the feet can be a frustrating one – from the constant feeling of pain, to the trail of treatment methods that didn’t improve your symptoms, leaving you dissatisfied and looking for alternative solutions. Taking the steps to talk to one of our doctor about QUTENZA could take you one step closer to getting the pain relief you’ve been looking for.

INDICATION:

QUTENZA® (capsaicin) 8% topical system is indicated in adults for the treatment of neuropathic pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and for neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) of the feet.

The QUTENZA difference

QUTENZA works differently to target diabetic nerve pain of the feet without the need for daily medication or interacting with any of your other current medication.

In clinical studies, QUTENZA has been shown to relieve pain for up to 3 months in people with diabetic nerve pain of the feet. QUTENZA has been shown to be effective for patients who are already taking other pain medicines. QUTENZA is unlikely to interact with other medicines you may be taking. Like any medicine, QUTENZA may not work for everyone. Only you and your doctor can decide if QUTENZA is right for you. QUTENZA is the first and only treatment of its kind to deliver prescription-strength capsaicin directly to the skin

How quickly QUTENZA may work for you

In a clinical study, after one application of QUTENZA, patients with diabetic nerve pain of the feet experienced pain relief after 19 days vs 72 days for patients who received a placebo. In clinical studies, some patients did not respond to the first treatment of QUTENZA, but did respond to the second treatment of QUTENZA.

AN IN-OFFICE TREATMENT THAT MAY PROVIDE UP TO 3 MONTHS OF PAIN RELIEF

  • Up to 3 months of pain relief
  • A 30-minute treatment for diabetic nerve pain of the feet
  • Acts locally
  • Treat diabetic nerve pain of the feet at the site of pain
  • No drug-drug interactions
  • QUTENZA can be used alone or in combination with other treatments

Why does QUTENZA have to be applied by my doctor or a healthcare professional?

QUTENZA contains prescription-strength capsaicin capable of producing severe irritation of the eyes, mucous membranes, respiratory tract, and skin. Only a physician or healthcare professional under the close supervision of a physician is to administer and handle QUTENZA.

While administering QUTENZA, special gloves are required and must be disposed of properly to prevent accidental contact.

Your blood pressure may be monitored periodically during and following treatment because pain during the treatment may cause your blood pressure to increase.

Tell your physician or healthcare professional if you have experienced any recent heart problems prior to QUTENZA treatment.

PA Foot & Ankle

Dr. Teichman and his staff are an outstanding group. I went to Dr. Teichman with painful diabetic neuropathy in both of my feet and he was the only one that took the time to listen to me and my problem. He took to the time to diagnose exactly what was causing my pain. Thank you to Dr.Teichman and his staff for listening to me and giving back to me quality of life I was missing for years.

Kelly Walker

I have been a patient of PA Foot and Ankle Associates for nearly 10 years, Dr. Rocchio is the doctor I see primarily. When I first went to visit him, I needed surgery. He took great care to (successfully) prevent infection. I continue to see him for diabetic foot care. He is knowledgeable and courteous.
