Problems With Ankles | Ankle Pain in Allentown

Your ankle is comprised of a series of structures that create a very complex hinge with many moving parts. It can withstand 1.5 times your body weight when you walk and up to eight times your body weight when you run. Because if the complexity of this joint, ankle pain is nothing to take lightly and should be treated as soon as possible.

The bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, blood vessels, and nerves in your ankle all must work together in precise order. When even one of these interlocking parts fails to work properly, movement becomes compromised.

Achilles tendon injuries

The most well-known and most frequently injured tendon is the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscle to the heelbone (calcaneus). This is arguably the most important tendon around the ankle, as we use it for every step we take as well as running and jumping. When irritated from overuse, activity becomes quite painful. When ruptured (completely torn), walking, standing, and running are difficult if not impossible.
