Dr. Thomas M. Rocchio

Dr. Rocchio completed his podiatric training at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and his surgical residency at Community Medical Center (now Geisinger Community Medical center) in Scranton, PA. He spent three years of intensive training under world-renowned surgeon Dr. Guido LaPorta to perfect his surgical techniques in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, limb lengthening, diabetic Charcot reconstruction, and pediatric deformity correction. Dr. Rocchio is board certified in foot surgery as well as Rearfoot and Ankle reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Rocchio is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS); The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) and a Member of the APMA. Dr, Rocchio is proud to be recognized as one of the foremost experts on Charcot foot disorder (neuropathic arthropathy). He also enjoys lecturing nationally and internationally on foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, limb salvage surgery, diabetic reconstructive surgery, and wound care.

Dr. Rocchio also developed a surgical procedure to replenish atrophied plantar fat pad. His parachute technique is utilized by hundreds of surgeons each year. Dr. Rocchio is also the co-designer of a unique external fixation frame utilized by hundreds of foot and ankle surgeons across the United States.

In the final year of residency, Dr. Rocchio completed special training in Biomechanics of External Fixation of the foot and ankle at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for pediatric orthopedics in Dallas, TX where he trained with world-renowned Russian orthopedic surgeon, Mikail Samchukov. From this education, Dr. Rocchio wrote an article that focused on the mechanical properties of circular external fixation as it pertains to the foot and ankle and had the pleasure of presenting this work at the internationally renowned orthopedic group Association for the Study and Advancement of the Method of Ilizarov (ASAMI) meeting in Boston, MA in 2003.

Dr. Rocchio is the Official Team Podiatrist of the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (PIFL).
